"It tasted like candy": Estero mom warns parents about kratom after daughter nearly dies

ESTERO, Fla. (WINK) — An Estero mother is pushing for new legislation after her 2-year-old daughter nearly died from accidental exposure to a kratom product.
Ashlee Zalewski's daughter, Edie, stopped breathing and lost her pulse on Sept. 23 after being exposed to a kratom tablet that was left on a kitchen counter. Zalewski said the product was left behind by a friend.
"She had completely stopped breathing. She was turning blue," Zalewski said.
